West Bromwich Albion prospect Cole Deeming is looking to continue his upward trajectory when pre-season returns this month. The 19-year-old midfielder enjoyed two loans away from The Hawthorns last season, sampling regular senior football at National League strugglers Truro City and League Two outfit Cheltenham Town.
What was said about Cole Deeming's loan spell?
Deeming made 17 appearances for Cheltenham Town, including five starts, and impressed with his technical quality, earning two assists for the Robins. Experienced boss Steve Cotterill praised Deeming's ability, saying: "Cole is quite tall, so his stride will be important during his time here."
How did Deeming perform at Cheltenham Town?
Deeming saw out 90 minutes just once, on his debut against Grimsby in January, but onlookers were impressed overall. Cotterill acknowledged that stepping up from semi-professional National League strugglers Truro would be a big step for Deeming, but lauded the youngster's "fabulous pass" and "sweet left foot".
What's next for Cole Deeming?
Deeming is expected to feature prominently in Albion's pre-season once again, having been part of the training camp in Austria last year. The young midfielder made his Albion senior debut aged 17 in an EFL Cup defeat at Fleetwood under Carlos Corberan two years ago and was an unused substitute in the first two fixtures of the season against Blackburn and Derby in league and cup.
